Boulder/Persian Turquoise Multi-Strand Bracelet
A sea of boulder turquoise sourced from Afghanistan makes up this strikingly attractive handmade 5-strand bracelet. Boulder turquoise is the name given when complementary host rock is interspersed throughout the turquoise stone. Each of these turquoise beads has been hand shaped to achieve the unique bi-conal form. They are also polished by hand using natural leather in order to achieve their matte finish. Turquoise of this quality and nature is rarely found in the marketplace today. These beads were acquired by The Turquoise Mine years ago and we are very pleased to offer them in our own handmade unique designs.
Front and center of this bracelet is a large natural, high-domed Persian turquoise cabochon sitting atop a shed deer antler from the American Northwest. The Persian turquoise is sourced from the highly coveted Nishapur region of eastern Iran. This Persian turquoise cabochon has a lovely aqua-blue color, rich with the region's characteristic complicated host-rock matrix.
Also used for this bracelet is high quality oiled leather, gold over fine silver nugget beads, fine black jade beads and an ornate Thai sterling silver slide bead (for tightening / loosening).
I have always admired these traditional American Indian bone chokers and bracelets; they have a raw, powerful, earthy appeal to me. Unlike traditional design, however, the use of high-quality turquoise and gemstones, along with precious metals are used in The Turquoise Mine handmade items. The melding of these two concepts is what sets these pieces apart from anything else found in the marketplace. The over-arching idea, ultimately, is to give the wearer lasting joy in a quality product.
