Native American Santo Domingo 4-Strand Amber Necklace

# WW - 5B3

A unique 4-strand necklace like no other I've seen. It was made from a Santo Domingo woman who had passed on, with this one left slightly unfinished in her studio. Her daughter eventually picked up and finished it and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have acquired it. This one is made of four long strands of richly hued amber "squares" (mainly dark, with others being more towards yellow), sprinkled with stones of turquoise & lapis. In between each bead, and finishing the top, is pen shell heishi bead. It is strung on traditional waxed linen, particular to the American Santo Domingo artists, and allows much flexibility with respect to its hanging length. It is a wonderful necklace.

Length: 32 1/2 inches + 5 " additional knotting capacity
